#movingday

Ok, so technically moving day was yesterday, but I am still surrounded by that which has yet to be unpacked, so there is still some moving to complete.

My roommate and I have just moved from apartment city to a loverly little duplex that is 20 minutes closer to our job. Instead of driving to and from work each day (dang, I just realized I won't get to jam out and pretend that I'm in a music video for 40 minutes a day... bummer.), we can WALK. FOUR BLOCKS. Boom, baby! I won't say I'll miss the old apartment, but I might miss being super close to Target, the Mall, and other places that drain my bank account. I also won't say that I'll miss our old neighbors, because I truly did not meet even one of them until yesterday. His name was...something. And he was smoking a cigarette whilst changing the tires on his suburban. He asked me if I was happy to be moving out, and I replied with, "Um, Doy," because I am twelve. Then I added, "It's not a very happy place to be...no one stays here." And then HE said (with his cigarette hanging from his lips and a tire balancing on his filthy hands), "This place is shit." Right you are, my good man! Anyway, it's the end of living in a huge complex, full of people who park like they're in college and may or may not sell drugs (I'm looking at you, #5 Laguna Beach!). It was fun to live on Long Beach Way, but I had to take a left on Malibu Way, a right onto Shiloh, then I got onto I-90 and I got outta there. They didn't even have real California avacyahdohs there. Ugh, I hate when people reference jokes that are no longer relevant!

My parents came to help us move, and I must say, my mother's cleaning skills are indeed unmatched. We cleaned our entire apartment (quite literally top to bottom) in only 3 hours, and Sister Mary Catherine did the most work and the best work. Moms are there for us when we need them, and I most definitely needed my mommy on this one. I wish I could have given her a better birthday present (oh, hey, we share a birthday! we are cooler than you, so GET OVER IT, HAG!) than "visiting" me, but hopefully I can show her how much she means to me on Mother's Day by waiting until the next weekend to see her and then going to a party that is guaranteed to cause a black-out situation. Love that woman, I do!

So I'm currently using my phone as a hotspot because the internet won't be here until it feels like it. I'm surrounded my clothes, some boxes, more clothes, a few totes crammed full with random shit, my clothes, and a new giant closet that is big enough to hold all of my clothes. Oooh, that reminds me - I need to break in the shoes I just bought tonight at Target. Good lord, I love that place. Tis my sanctuary, indeed! But it's just pretty neat-o to be surrounded by all of my stuff, not knowing where ANYTHING is at the moment, and knowing that for the next three weeks my commute will consist of five minutes of walking. I'm so glad I moved! I'm so glad I have a job next year! I'm so glad we only have three weeks left before summer! I'm so glad that I'll be on the beach in Florida in a month! W00t!

It's off to bed for me - I have an entire house to unpack tomorrow. Word to your mothers.
