30 Day Challenge: Day 1 - 30 things about myself.

1. I was born in Montgomery, Alabama. As far as I know, there was not a banjo on my knee.
2. My hometown in Bozeman, Montana and I pretty much love it.
3. I went to Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri (pronounced "nuh-vay-duh"), and those two years were probably two of the most important years of my life. I made awesome friends, learned a lot about myself and started to become a strong woman. Rawr!
4. After that, I had to transfer to a big school. University of Montana smells like hippies, so I didn't like it.
5. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Montana State in English Literature. I like books and I like words. Please read that last sentence in a British accent.
6. I've been to Paris, London and Edinburgh - within the two-year Cottey experience, those were the two best weeks of my life. Oh, and I got to go for free. Private women's colleges are the bomb.
7. I'm deathly afraid of bees and moths, and I don't really care if you judge me. They terrify me, and you'll never understand, so just kill them when I ask you to, pleaseandthankyou.
8. Sometimes I feel political, and other times I feel like I might embrace anarchy. I'm not incredibly educated in the politisphere, but I also don't watch Fox News, so I'm pretty sure I'm informed. ;)
9. I put one of these ---> ;) at the end of a lot of my sentences. It's a hard habit to break.
10. I like Pilates because I have mini-abs now.
11. I was pretty chubby growing up, and I most definitely have a complex about it.
12. I have two older sisters, and I feel like I embody the best things about them. I'm the best daughter, trust me.
13. Despite having a pretty intense sense of self-loathing, I'm also incredibly narcissistic. See #12.
14. I consider myself a feminist, and I'm not sure why I don't want to attach myself to the term, "feminazi." Most likely, it's the essence of the word "nazi," but at the same time, I think it's incredibly important to see strength in women, and any hint of misogyny or sexism against women pisses me the hell off. This may or may not be a result of attending a women's college - more likely, it's the result of being a woman.
15. I love musicals, I love 90's music, and I love to sing along, even if I sound like pewp.
16. I'm back in school to become certified to teach English in grades 5-12...there is a chance I'm going to be teaching Twilight with a feminist slant someday. I'm hella team Edward, but that guy needs to cool it. There will be a lesson dedicated to the name "Reneseme" and why it is just plain horrible.
17. Even though I love Montana, I see myself living somewhere else when I become a grown-up. I don't know where....but somewhere.
18. I've been working in retail for a while now, and it's really made me hate people. Kids aren't people yet, so I think teaching will bring me back to reality. ;)
19. There are certain words that I hear people say that make me cringe. Including, but not limited to:
heighth, tooken, boughten, expecially, expresso, estatic, supposably, irregardless (there's an argument for that one, but that argument is stupid, IMO), pronounciation, and when people say "is" when they mean to say "are," (for example: there's a few, or there is so many reasons, etc). Oh, and when people write, "should of" instead of "should have," I judge them. Hard. I'm not really a grammar/syntax expert (yes, I know I'm going to teach English. Don't worry - I'll get my shit together before I get a classroom), but damn.
20. I've wanted long hair for as long as I can remember...and yet, I keep cutting it. That's annoying.
21. I really love chocolate. It's an intense love, one not willing to fizzle. fo' shizzle.
22. I've been in love. I'm still in love. I've also been in hate.
23. I have two main philosophies: "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story,"and "When in doubt, dance out."
24. I have two goals this summer: read a ton of books and hike a ton of mountains.
25. What I'll actually do this summer: work a ton and miss out on a ton of fun shit.
26. In the event that I bring a child into this world, I'm going to make sure that child has a good relationship with my parents.
27. I giggle a lot. Sometimes I'm just uncomfortable, but usually I'm in a good mood and I just really like to laugh. Sometimes I switch-up my laugh to make other people uncomfortable, and then I get really happy.
28. I used to joke about wanting Morgan Freeman to follow me around and narrate my life. The older I get, the more I realize that in all seriousness....that would be freaking awesome.
29. I've had a super hardcore crush on Leonardo DiCaprio since the age of 10. It will never fade. Others come and go, but he's my unicorn. Second in line: Taylor Hanson.
30. I really hope that when I turn 30 I have a job that I love and that I'm financially independent. And I'm gonna make those student loans my bitch.

gniggolb

Hello there, reader of blogs! In an effort to give myself something to focus on besides school (and a violent obsession with netflix and hulu), I've decided to start blogging. Or b-logging, because that sounds cooler. Also, it's late and I can't sleep so I figured the familiar clicking of a keyboard would lull me into the dream sphere. I'm not exactly sure where to start (besides pink font. tres chic.), and I don't have any pictures of cute babies or puppies to put up - but I do have a best good friend with a cute baby, and she has a blog. I stole this from her to motivate myself to actually keep up with my le blog:

I suppose I'll start it tomorrow (when I'm done with homework, of course. School is probably more important that blogging...?). Oh, also, I'll try to find some cute baby and puppy pictures. ;)

And if you want to read the bff little Ashley's blog, it is right meah: beware the cuteness of the baby

Final thought: I've just realized a personal dilemma - I think my eyesight is getting worse based on the fact that everything gets fuzzy real fast when I read. This is a problem for a budding English teacher. The reading glasses aren't cutting the mustard, and contacts freak me out - meh, whine.  In addition, I'm incredibly afraid of optometrists and their eye-poof thingy, so I better not have glaucoma. I BETTER NOT! <---caps-lock indicates the seriousness of the situation.
